Li Yaxiong
Summary: Li Yaxiong, male, born in 1962, is the vice president of Yunnan Cardiovascular Hospital and chief surgeon of the Cardiovascular Surgery Department at Yan’an Hospital of Kunming, as well as a professor and Director of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Center. The hospital conducts kidney transplants, heart transplants, and heart-lung combined transplants. Two cases of heart-lung combined transplants are suspected of live organ harvesting and murder. According to incomplete data, from 2003 to 2009, he participated in 11 heart transplants. Since Kunming Yan'an Hospital completed its first orthotopic heart transplant under the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) method in 2018, at least 35 heart transplants have been performed.
In view of the broader background of the Chinese Communist Party's state crime of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners, since Yan’an Hospital of Kunming is allegedly involved in the crime, Li Yaxiong, the director of the hospital's Cardiovascular Surgery Department, is a major suspect.
Main learning experience: From September 1981 to August 1986, Kunming Medical College, five-year undergraduate medical major. From October 1993 to October 1994, Beijing Anzhen Hospital for advanced studies. From October 2003 to January 2004, studied at the Berlin Heart Center in Germany. From November 2008 to January 2009, visited the Heart Center of the University of Pennsylvania-affiliated Hospital in the United States.
Main work experience: September 1986-August 1993, resident surgeon in Yan'an Hospital of Kunming City. September 1993-August 1998, attending surgeon of Yan'an Hospital of Kunming City. From September 1998 to October 2003, Deputy Chief Surgeon and Administrative Deputy Director of Yan'an Hospital of Kunming City. May 2003-January 2011, Deputy Director of Yunnan Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Center. November 2003-, Chief Surgeon and Chief of Administration Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Yan'an Hospital, Kunming City. September 2007-, Vice President of Yunnan Cardiovascular Hospital. February 2011-, Director of Yunnan Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Center.[1]
2003 through 2009, participated in the implementation of 11 cases of heart transplantation.[2] As of 2008, participated in performing 2 cases of heart-lung extraction from donors in combined heart-lung transplantation.[3]
Main scientific research projects: Yunnan Province Science and Technology Project "Clinical application of organ transplantation in Eisenmenger syndrome and research on immune tolerance".
Main scientific and technological achievements: 1. Clinical application of single-lung transplantation in the treatment of ventricular septal defect with Eisenmenger syndrome (2007, the second prize of Kunming Science and Technology Progress Award) 2. "Application of combined heart-lung transplantation in the treatment of end-stage cardiopulmonary diseases Research” (2005, the third prize of Yunnan Province Science and Technology Progress Award and the second prize of Kunming City Science and Technology Progress Award).
Mainly engaged in surgical treatment and clinical research of organ transplantation, especially in heart transplantation and combined heart-lung transplantation, he has achieved very satisfactory results.
The hospital has 1,338 beds and advanced equipment such as 3.0T MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and 1.5T MRI system.

Kunming Yan'an Hospital is a national tertiary A-level general hospital. [4] The hospital is a national-level professional training base for coronary heart disease, structural heart disease, and arrhythmia intervention, and a national-level heart transplant center. It received heart transplant qualification in 2013.[5]
The Hospital Carry out Kidney transplantation, heart transplantation, and combined heart-lung transplantation
In 1983, the hospital was one of those that carried out allogeneic kidney transplantation early. And in 1987, kidney transplantation was routinely performed, treating nearly 200 people with renal failure.[6]
The Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of Yan'an Hospital in Kunming took the lead in carrying out the first combined heart-lung transplant in Southwest China; the first heart transplant in Kunming; the first single-lung transplant + congenital heart defect repair operation[7]in Kunming. During 2003-2009, it completed 11 heart transplants.[8] As of 2008, it had completed 2 cases of combined heart-lung transplantation.[9] As of 2006, it had participated in performing 1 single lung transplantation.[10]
Two Cases of Heart and Lung Extraction in Heart and Lung-combined Transplant Suspected of Murder[11]
From the description in the medical paper published by Wu Jian et al. of Yan'an Hospital in Kunming city, China, the process of cutting out the heart and lungs of the donor is suspected to be the record of 2 homicide cases.
Figure 1 Yunnan Medicine, Vol. 29, No. 5, 2008, p. 469
The description of the surgical operation in the above paper: After the donor (the organ provider) entered the operating room, conventional anesthesia and tracheal intubation were administered; intravenous injection of methylprednisolone 1g, and heparinization (3mg/Kg). After the anesthesia took effect, routine disinfection and drape were performed; An incision was made in the center and into the chest swiftly using conventional surgical procedures.
Analysis:
The clinical judgment of brain death must include all three indicators: deep coma, loss of brain stem reflexes, and involuntary breathing. The involuntary breathing refers to the need to rely on a ventilator to maintain breathing, and the criterion must be verified by the spontaneous breathing challenge trial. The trial requires the temporary removal of ventilator support for 8-10 minutes with patient showing no sign of spontaneous breathing. The following conclusions can be drawn from the above paper:
Analysis1) The donor was alive, because generally only people alive need anesthesia and tracheal intubation.
2) The donor was a conscious person. The surgical operation in the above paper says: "After the anesthesia took effect, routine disinfection and drape were performed...” It shows this person was a living person with physiological signs (nerve sensation, nerve reflex) that can judge the effect of anesthesia.
3) The donor had spontaneous breathing, because the conventional anesthesia and tracheal intubation were performed after the donor entered the operating room, that is, the donor could breathe on his/her own without intubation before entering.
4) The above analysis indicates that this donor was conscious and had spontaneous breathing, so he/she was not brain dead or in a deep coma.
Based on the above analysis, the following conclusions can be drawn:
1) This paper is a report of 2 cases of taking heart and lungs, a report of harvesting heart and lungs from a living person, i.e., harvesting heart and lungs to kill for transplantation.
2) They can write the process of killing and publish it on the Internet, this is enough to show that killing has become a routine job, so they are unscrupulous.
