Gu Xinwei
Summary: Gu Xinwei, male, director of Organ Transplantation Ward of Ruikang Hospital Affiliated to Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and deputy director of Urology Surgery; standing member of Guangxi Organ Transplantation Society.
He is able to complete liver and kidney transplantation independently, and has participated in 2000 kidney transplants, more than 200 liver transplants, more than 20 combined liver and kidney transplants, and clinical operations of multi-organ cluster transplantation. He has performed 300 kidney transplants and 50 liver transplants. The Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery Research Center of the Ministry of Health is the clinical key base of Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery of the Ministry of Health of the Communist Party of China, and has the Organ Transplantation Center as its subordinate. "The Clinical Base of Ruikang Hospital of Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery Research Center of the Ministry of Health is located in Ruikang Hospital affiliated to Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with 100 beds in the ward.
The Department of Urology of Ruikang Hospital affiliated to Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is divided into one, two and three units (transplantation ward), and it is a designated unit for organ transplantation approved by the Ministry of Health of the Communist Party of China. The disciplines are set up to include organ transplantation center, and the number of surgeries is at the leading level in the whole region.
In view of the broader background of the Chinese Communist Party's state crime of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners, since Ruikang Hospital Affiliated to
Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is allegedly involved in the crime, Gu Xinwei, the director of the hospital's Organ Transplantation ward, is a major suspect.
Gu Xinwei, male, is the director of the organ transplantation ward of Ruikang Hospital Affiliated to Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine[1], as well as the deputy director of the Department of Urology; he is also a standing member of the Guangxi Organ Transplantation Society. He is Medical PhD, graduated from Southern Medical University. He has been engaged in organ transplantation and urology for nearly 18 years. He was a visiting scholar at the University of California Davis Medical Center.
He has participated in 2000 kidney transplants, 200 liver transplants, 20 combined liver and kidney transplants, and multi-organ cluster transplants. He has performed 300 kidney transplants and 50 liver transplants[2], and can perform liver and kidney transplants independently. He claims that he is "good at clinical liver transplantation, kidney transplantation and multi-organ combined transplantation, especially experienced in clinical diagnosis and treatment of high-risk, high-age, high sensitization, and repeated/three times kidney transplantation."
The Department of Urology of Ruikang Hospital affiliated to Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is divided into the first, second and third units (transplantation wards), and is a designated unit for organ transplantation approved by the Ministry of Health of the Communist Party of China. Discipline settings include an organ transplantation center, with its urology division having 100 beds. It claims to be "in the leading position in the region in terms of both the number of surgeries, the technology of transplantation surgery, postoperative patient monitoring and emergency treatment of various related complications, and postoperative follow-up work." According to incomplete data, the cumulative number of kidney transplants carried out stood at more than 300 cases[3].
The Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery Research Center of the CCP’s Ministry of Health is its clinical key base of the Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery, and has the Organ Transplantation Center as its subordinate. The center has five research laboratories of liver surgery, organ transplantation, biliary surgery, anorectal surgery and biomedicine. Clinical medical care includes backpack liver transplantation[4].
The research center has established several bases: Xiaolan Base of Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery Research Center of the Ministry of Health[5], Inner Mongolia Institute of Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery of the Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery Research Center of the Ministry of Health[6], Ruikang Hospital Clinical Base of the Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery Research Center of the Ministry of Health[7], and guides these hospitals to carry out liver transplant.
In April 2006, the groundbreaking of the Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery Research Center building was held at Xiangya Hospital, and Zhang Yangde was appointed as the director of the center in the building.[8]
Xiangya Hospital Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery Research Center wards, Room 60 and Room 61, are located on the second floor of Building 4 and Building 5, both of which are the old surgical buildings of Xiangya Hospital, with 90 beds[9].
The Clinical Base of Ruikang Hospital, Hepatobiliary and Intestinal Surgery Research Center of the Ministry of Health, is located in Ruikang Hospital affiliated to Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with 2 outpatient clinics (Building 3) and 2 wards (Building 19), i.e. Hepatobiliary and Gastrointestinal Surgery, with 100 beds in the wards[10].
The Ministry of Health Hepatobiliary and Gastrointestinal Surgery Research Center Ruikang Hospital clinical base alone has 100 beds, then since the Ministry of Health Hepatobiliary and Gastrointestinal Surgery Research Center has the wards on the 4th and 5th floors in the Ministry of Health Hepatobiliary and Gastrointestinal Surgery Research Center building, Heya Hospital’s old Surgical Building, so the number of beds should be very large. Therefore, if we calculate according to the conservative estimate of 100 beds for liver and kidney transplants in a year, the average hospitalization day for transplantation is 30 days, and the turnover rate of beds is 100%, the number of liver and kidney transplantation in a year can be up to 1,216 (100×365×100%/30=1,216) cases (Calculation method: the number of beds times the number of days in a year times the turnover rate of beds/average hospitalization day for liver and kidney transplantation equals the annual number of liver and kidney transplantation accomplished).
