Peng Chenghong

In view of the broader background of the Chinese Communist Party's state crime of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners, since Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine is allegedly involved in the crime, Peng Chenghong, the director of the hospital's General Surgery Department, is a major suspect.

He received a doctorate degree in General Surgery from Zhejiang Medical University in 1993;
From March 1997 to March 1998, he worked as a visiting scholar at the Multi-Organ Transplant Center of the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. He has in-depth research on liver transplantation and claims to be the first person to complete split liver transplantation and the first in situ assisted partial cadaver liver transplantation in China[1].
Ruijin Hospital is one of the earliest units in China to carry out liver and heart transplantation. The center has a large number of best surgeons in China in the field of organ transplantation, and has experience in performing a variety of complex heart, liver, kidney transplantation, small intestine transplantation, and combined organ transplantation. The center has advanced and complete transplant wards, transplant intensive care units and transplant operating rooms, as well as independent organ transplant pathology rooms and organ transplant laboratories[2].
The hospital ranked 4th among the best specialized hospitals among the top 100 hospitals in China in 2013[3]. The Organ Transplantation Center was established in February 2003. Several transplantation talents in China, including Peng Chenghong, Yin Lu, Xu Da, and Wang Xianghui, joined the team. Based on the clinical and scientific research of the hospital's existing operating room, anesthesia department, intensive care unit, hematology department, pathology department and other related departments, a self-proclaimed complete transplantation team was established. There are 57 beds, including 14 ICU beds. The average number of transplants per year exceeds 200[4]. As of October 2006[5], the hospital has followed up more than 60,000 kidney transplant recipients[6].

1. Anyway, one or two months are still needed, and sometimes it is faster, and that’s an exception. It probably takes a month or two.
2. I actually work at both Ruijin and Changzheng (Hospitals). I do less (surgeries) at Changzheng Hospital, and more at Ruijin Hospital. If (a surgery is) needed, I’ll probably have to do it at Ruijin.
