Guo Xiaojun
Summary: Guo Xiaojun, Director of the Organ Transplantation Department of Sinopharm Dongfeng General Hospital. In 2009, the Organ Transplantation Research Center of Hubei Medical and Pharmaceutical College was established in the General Hospital. There are 40 beds available. In view of the broader background of the Chinese Communist Party's state crime of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners, since Sinopharm Dongfeng General Hospital is allegedly involved in the crime, Guo Xiaojun, the director of the hospital's Organ Transplantation Department, is major suspect.
Guo Xiaojun, Director of Organ Transplantation Department of Sinopharm Dongfeng General Hospital. He has been engaged in clinical research and teaching of breast transplantation for many years[1].
In 1992, Sinopharm Dongfeng General Hospital established the Organ Transplantation Research Institute and carried out various organ transplantation operations[2]. In 2009, the Organ Transplantation Research Institute was awarded the title of "Organ Transplantation Research Center of Yunyang Medical College"[3]. In 2009, the Organ Transplantation Research Center of Hubei Medical and Pharmaceutical College was established in the General Hospital[4]. Urology Department routinely carries out kidney transplantation[5]. There are 3 chief surgeons, 2 deputy chief surgeons, 4 attending surgeons, and 3 resident surgeons in the Organ Transplantation and Breast Surgery Department, including 1 with a doctorate degree and 4 with a master's degree. There are currently 40 beds. After the establishment of the institute, "experts such as Professor Xia Suisheng of Tongji Medical University were invited to provide guidance[6], which enabled the hospital's organ transplantation to achieve substantial development, and it has successively become the Dongfeng Branch of Organ Transplantation of Tongji Medical University and the Organ Transplantation Center of Hubei Medical and Pharmaceutical College". Yuan Fangjun, vice president of Dongfeng General Hospital, said, "Currently, kidney transplantation has become a routine operation, and almost all surgeons in our hospital can perform kidney transplantation independently." On July 14, 2016, the Shiyan Evening News reported that "from 1979 to 2016, Dongfeng General Hospital completed more than 800 organ transplant operations. The hospital also carried out allogeneic kidney transplants, orthotopic liver transplants, piggyback liver transplants, corneal transplants, bone marrow transplants, parathyroid transplants and other multi-organ transplant operations. The hospital's organ transplantation has become a business card for Shiyan's medical industry." [8] After the establishment of the institute, under the guidance of experts such as Professor Xia Suisheng of Tongji Medical University, as of September 2010, 8 allogeneic liver transplants, 6 parathyroid transplants, 1 bone marrow transplant and more than 50 corneal transplants were carried out[9]. As of November 2022, Sinopharm Dongfeng General Hospital is the only hospital in northwestern Hubei that has passed the national access qualification for organ transplantation, and the only municipal and prefectural hospital in Hubei Province that carries out organ transplantation. It has completed more than 1,000 organ transplant operations[10]. The hospital once completed 10 kidney transplants in one week, which is rare in hospitals qualified to perform organ transplants, setting a record for the hospital's donation and transplant operations in a single week. In August 2000, Dongfeng General Hospital performed a large organ transplant activity of 10 kidney transplants, 1 parathyroid transplant and 3 corneal transplants on the same day[11]. The source of the organs has raised questions.
The hospital has a military background. Dongfeng Company is a large-scale automobile enterprise directly managed by the central government, with business covering commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, new energy vehicles, military vehicles, key automobile assemblies and parts, automobile equipment and automobile-related businesses[12]. Dongfeng Motor was founded in 1969. Its development strategy was determined to be "military-oriented, military first and civilian second".
