Zhu Zhijun
Summary: Zhu Zhijun, male. chief surgeon, Doctor of Medicine, professor, doctoral supervisor, director of the Liver Transplant Center of Beijing Friendship Hospital, "leader" of liver transplantation discipline, and director of the Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment and Research Center for Children's Liver Transplantation of Capital Medical University. He has been engaged in liver surgery and liver transplantation since 1998. As of June 2023, he had performed more than 3,100 liver transplants, including more than 1,000 living donor liver transplants and more than 1,000 pediatric liver transplants. He is one of the individuals who have performed the most liver transplants in China. The General Surgery Department of Beijing Friendship Hospital currently has more than 150 open beds, and its liver transplantation is at the internationally advanced level. Telephone investigation shows that liver transplant doctors said that legal loopholes had been taken advantage of before in getting donors, there are multiple liver transplant teams, the number of liver transplants is large, and the scale of transplant centers is huge.
In view of the broader background of the Chinese Communist Party's state crime of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners, since Beijing Friendship Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University is involved in the crime, Zhu Zhijun, the director of the hospital's Liver Transplant Center, is a major suspect.
Zhu Zhijun, male. Chief Surgeon, Doctor of Medicine, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Director of the Liver Transplantation Center of Beijing Friendship Hospital, a leader in liver transplantation, Director of the Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment and Research Center for Children's Liver Transplantation of Capital Medical University, Deputy Director of the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Digestive Diseases, Deputy Director of General Surgery, and Deputy Director of the Beijing Key Laboratory of Transplant Tolerance and Organ Protection.[1] Liver transplantation expert at Peking Union Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.[2]
He has been engaged in general surgery since 1991 and liver surgery and liver transplantation since 1998. As of June 2023, he had performed more than 3,100 liver transplants, including more than 1,000 living donor liver transplants and more than 1,000 pediatric liver transplants. He is one of the individuals who have performed the most liver transplants in China. He has performed a variety of procedures, including living donor liver transplantation, domino liver transplantation, dual-donor liver transplantation, single liver segment donor liver transplantation, reduced-volume liver transplantation, and auxiliary liver transplantation. The Department of General Surgery currently has more than 150 open beds.[3]
The hospital keeps increasing its capacity. Liver Inpatient Service was moved to Tongzhou District, Beijing.
The Tongzhou branch of Beijing Friendship Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University opened for trial operation at 8:00 am on December 22, 2018. The total number of beds in the Tongzhou branch was planned to be 1,050, and 800 beds in the first phase would be gradually opened. According to reports, the second phase of Beijing Friendship Hospital (Tongzhou Branch) was put to use in 2023. Tongzhou Branch of Beijing Friendship Hospital has 702 beds in December 2021. After the second phase finished, the total number of beds reached 1,050. Since the opening of Tongzhou Branch, the hospital’s liver transplant ward and kidney transplant ward had moved into this branch successively. The Transplant Center of Beijing Friendship Hospital has totally moved to Tongzhou Branch with international medical service added[4].
