Chen Jingyu
Summary: Chen Jingyu, a Chief Thoracic Surgeon, is Deputy Director of the People’s Hospital of Wuxi City, Deputy Director of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Director of the Lung Transplant Center at the People’s Hospital of Wuxi City, and Deputy Director of the Lung Transplant Center at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital.
Wuxi City People's Hospital began performing lung transplants in 2002, the third year after the Chinese Communist Party began persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. By October 2022, the hospital had completed over 1,500 lung transplant surgeries. In 2023, Chen Jingyu performed 370 lung transplants, including 205 in Wuxi and 165 in Hangzhou. The lung transplant team at the People’s Hospital of Wuxi City can perform up to four lung transplants simultaneously and once completed six lung transplants within 24 hours. The hospital has assisted over 30 hospitals across 18 provinces in performing lung transplants, with the China-Japan Friendship Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University becoming two leading lung transplant centers in China.
In view of the broader background of the Chinese Communist Party's state crime of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners, since the source of donors for lung transplants at this hospital is unclear, and the People’s Hospital of Wuxi City's involvement in the crime is suspected, Chen Jingyu, the director of the hospital's Lung Transplant Center, is a major suspect.

Title :Chief Surgeon of Thoracic Surgery, Deputy Director of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Director of Lung Transplant Center of Wuxi City People’s Hospital. Member of Chinese Society of Organ Transplantation, Member of Editorial Board of Chinese Journal of Organ Transplantation.
From October 2001 to April 2002 and from September 2004 to November 2004, Chen Jingyu twice went to Toronto General Hospital in Canada to study basic research and clinical applications of lung transplantation[1].
Evidence shows that The People's Hospital of Wuxi City is suspected of long-term organ harvesting from living donors, including in the double lung transplant surgery for the first Covid-19 patient. Chen Jingyu said in an interview after completing the "world's first double-lung transplantation for a case of CCP pneumonia (COVID-19)" in February 2020, that lung transplantation is a routine operation, and one is done every two or three days. More than 1,000 cases of lung transplantation have been performed. [2]
Lung transplantation at The People's Hospital of Wuxi City began in the third year after the CCP persecuted Falun Gong, that is, in 2002, the first lung transplant was performed.[3] According to a report by Sina.com in October 2022, the Lung Transplantation Center of The People's Hospital of Wuxi City, under the leadership of Professor Chen Jingyu, has completed more than 1,500 cases of lung transplantation, accounting for half of the total number of lung transplant operations in China, and has become the largest in Asia, and one of the world's top three lung transplant diagnosis and treatment centers. [4]
Data show that the hospital's Lung Transplantation Center, in promoting lung transplant techniques nationwide, has hosted six conferences for national continuing education programs for national heart and lung transplantation[5] and providing guidance to more than 30 hospitals across China, with the China-Japan Friendship Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine becoming top lung transplant centers in China[6].
According to a report by Wuxi Media Network, the lung transplant team at the People’s Hospital of Wuxi City can perform up to four lung transplants simultaneously and once completed six lung transplants within 24 hours[7]. In 2023, Chen Jingyu performed 370 lung transplants, including 205 in Wuxi and 165 in Hangzhou.
There are widespread concerns regarding the source of these lungs. On May 8, 2023, Chen Jingyu stated on his Weibo account: "In 2015, China fully implemented the practice of organ donation from heart and brain-dead donors, with organs from brain-dead citizens being our only source of organs." However, to date, China has no legislation regarding "brain death." There are no official diagnostic standards for "brain death" in China. Therefore, all organ transplants using "brain death" donors in the communist China are illegal[8].
The first double-lung transplant surgery for a COVID-19 patient is suspected of involving forced organ harvesting.
On February 29 and March 1, 2020, the lung transplants at Nanjing Medical University's the People's Hospital of Wuxi City were prominently featured in CCP media, with both double-lung procurements completed in less than five days[9].
Based on previous investigation records of Chen Jingyu, Deputy Director of the People's Hospital of Wuxi City, by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), and considering over ten years of evidence on the CCP's extensive organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners and the establishment of living donor organ banks across various regions, it is believed that the donor sources for Chen Jingyu's team in these COVID-19 cases are highly suspected of coming from forced organ harvesting of living donors. The lungs were obtained in less than five days, making it unlikely that they came from voluntary citizen donations and more likely that they were sourced from living donor organ banks.
1. Case Summary:
According to a report by the Beijing Youth Daily, a 59-year-old male COVID-19 patient fell ill on January 23, was intubated on February 7, placed on ECMO on February 22, and transferred to Wuxi Infectious Disease Hospital on February 24. The decision was made to proceed with a lung transplant. On February 29, Chen Jingyu's team at Nanjing Medical University's Wuxi City People's Hospital performed a double lung transplant[10].
The time from diagnosing COVID-19, transferring the patient, conducting nucleic acid tests, deciding on the lung transplant, sourcing the lungs, organ retrieval, pre-transplant testing, matching, and other preparations to the actual transplant surgery took less than five days.
This timeframe solely accounts for the recipient's surgery. Additionally, the donor sourcing, screening, and matching processes require more time. Hence, completing both recipient and donor preparations in less than five days is unlikely with voluntary organ donations, implying the use of pre-arranged donor organs where all necessary data was already available, with the surgery proceeding based on the selection of the recipient.
2. Organ Transplant Matching Probability Overview
Normally, the matching ratio for allogeneic organ transplants is very low. According to the International Society of Nephrology, the HLA matching ratio between unrelated individuals is 6.5%. This means that to find a suitable kidney for a patient, one would need to find 15 recently deceased individuals (with organs retrieved within 6 minutes of blood supply cessation) or brain-dead donors (who can provide organs at that moment). Another report indicates that the probability of HLA matching between unrelated individuals is approximately one in 100,000[11]. This difficulty explains why, in many advanced countries (such as the United States), patients have to wait for organs (positive matching), often for 2-3 years.
3. Comparison of Organ Donation Situations in China and the US
In mainland China, since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, the phenomenon of organs waiting for patients (reverse matching) has emerged, with waiting times as short as 1-2 weeks or even a few hours. This suggests the existence of a large pool of living donors available for organ harvesting at any time.
A Xinhua report on March 24, 2012, noted that former US Vice President Cheney waited nearly two years (20 months) on the transplant list before receiving a donor heart for his transplant. In 2017, over 138 million Americans over the age of 18 registered as organ donors, with 10,287 deceased donors that year[12]. The average waiting time for major organ transplants, such as liver or kidney transplants, is 2-3 years.
On May 5, 2018, Huang Jiefu, director-level member of the China National Organ Donation and Transplantation Committee, stated that the "Love and Hope", the first online organ donation registration system in China, had over 300,000 registered volunteers, indicating their intention to donate organs[13]. Huang claimed that "China had 4,080 organ donations in 2016"[14] (an annual donation rate of 136 per ten thousand, equivalent to over 100 times that of the US) and "5,148 organ donations in 2017" (an annual donation rate of 171.6 per 10 thousand), with 16,000 major organs donated[15]. In China, the average waiting time for organ transplants is 2-4 weeks, with the fastest being 4 hours; 26.6% of those surgeries were emergency liver transplants done within 72 hours [16].
Following international norms, the death rate among registered donors is 7/1000. Due to health issues, lifestyle factors, age, and the time gap between death and organ retrieval, only 1-2% of registered donors are eligible to donate organs.
Applying this to China's 300,000 registered donors, in 2016, about 2,100 would have died, with only 21-42 eligible to donate organs[17]. However, the CCP claimed 4,080 organ donations in 2016[18] and 5,148 in 2017[19], suggesting alternative sources for these organs.
Normal civilian donations are random and unplanned. Unless there is a large reserve of specific detained individuals available for organ harvesting, it is impossible to meet such high demand for emergency transplants and ultra-short waiting times.
Therefore, the above mentioned donor lung was obtained in a very short time and was unlikely to come from citizen donations. Combined with the results of the WOIPFG's analysis of the "100 Lung Removal Cases in Wuxi" case study, this case is suspected of having taking the lung organ from a living donor organ bank.
Analysis of Wuxi's "100 Lung Harvests" Case by WOIPFG[20]
WOIPFG's investigation report (2006-2015) detailed the "Analysis of the 100 Lung Harvests Case in Wuxi,"[21] indicating that the alleged 100 lung removals in Wuxi are suspected of involvement in killing living donors.
Chen Jingyu was one of the participants and authors of the related research paper.
The scenarios described in the paper entitled "Analysis of 100 Cases of Lung Procurement: Impact of Cold Ischemia Time >6 Hours and Lung Volume Reduction on Outcomes” by Chen Jingyu, Wang Zhenxing, Zheng Mingfeng, Ye Shugao, Liu Feng, Chen Ruo, Lu Rongguo, and Wei Dong [22] are suspected of murder of 100 people through living donor organ harvesting.

图6.4 2011年7月无锡市开始器官捐献试点到2017年总共只有29例捐献
Figure 6.4 Wuxi City started the organ donation pilot program in July 2011, but only 29 donations were made by 2017
Analysis of the above cases:
1) Organs are not from voluntary donors
The paper describes the time of extraction of 100 experimental lungs: September 2002 to January 2011
Wuxi City organ donation pilot: started in July 2011, and there were only 29 donations in total by 2017.
2) Donor are not death row prisoners
The location of the extraction of these 100 lungs: the operating room of the Lung Transplant Center of the People’s Hospital of Wuxi City.
In China, the execution of death row prisoners is strictly regulated and is carried out according to the time and place of the judgment of the Supreme People's Court of the Communist Party of China. The execution site must have relevant personnel from the court, the procuratorate, etc., so it is impossible to remove organs from death row prisoners in the operating room. So the donated organs cannot be from death row prisoners
Based on the above analysis, the sources of the organs in this report cannot be donated and death row prisoners' organs, but most likely from the organs of Falun Gong practitioners or other people secretly stored in the "CCP Living Donor Organ Bank", and therefore they are suspected of committing forced organ harvesting.
