WOIPFG's Investigative Report on the Alleged Organ Harvesting of Living Falun Gong Practitioners by Wang Jianning, Deputy Director of the Shandong Province Qianfoshan Hospital
Feb 7, 2025

Summary: Wang Jianning, Deputy Director and Chief Urologist of Shandong Province Qianfoshan Hospital, and the Director of the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO). Shandong Province Qianfoshan Hospital has been promoting organ transplantation as a specialized technique. It is one of the few hospitals in China with the qualifications to perform six types of organ transplants: liver, kidney, heart, lung, pancreas, and small intestine. As of January 2024, the hospital's organ transplant department had completed over 3,000 kidney transplants, over 800 liver transplants, and over 160 heart transplants. Multiple phone investigations have indicated the hospital's involvement in forced organ harvesting, including from living Falun Gong practitioners, and a high volume of organ transplants.

In view of the broader background of the Chinese Communist Party's state crime of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners, since Shandong Province Qianfoshan Hospital has been involved in the crime, Wang Jianning, the Deputy Director of the hospital and the Director of the hospital’s Organ Procurement Organization (OPO), is a major suspect.

Wang Jianning

Visiting scholar at the Urology Surgical Department of the University of California School of Medicine and Cleveland Medical Center.      Member and secretary of Shandong Provincial Organ Transplant Committee, Standing Member of the Organ Transplant Professional Committee of Shandong Provincial Medical Doctor Association[1].

Shandong Province Qianfoshan Hospital has always regarded organ transplantation as a special technology that the hospital focuses on promoting. It is one of the few hospitals in China that has the qualifications to perform six types of organ transplantation: liver, kidney, heart, lung, pancreas and small intestine. The hospital performed its first kidney transplant in 1991, making it one of the earliest hospitals in China to perform kidney transplantation. In 2000, the hospital performed its first lung transplant; in 2002, it was the first in the province to perform a liver transplant; in 2003, the hospital performed its first heart transplant; in 2004, the hospital performed its first combined heart-lung transplant; as of January 2024, the hospital's organ transplant department has performed more than 3,000 kidney transplants, more than 800 liver transplants, and more than 160 heart transplants, ranking high in China.

In July 2023, the Shandong Provincial Health Commission established the Shandong Provincial Human Organ Donation and Acquisition Medical Quality Control Center (OPO) at Shandong Provincial Qianfoshan Hospital, with Deputy Director Wang Jianning serving as the center's director.[2] Within the first two months after its establishment, the hospital performed 70 kidney transplants, ranking first in Shandong Province; completed 21 liver transplants; 5 heart transplants; 12 lung donations; and 2 pancreas donations.[3] In 2023, the kidney transplant department of Qianfoshan Hospital performed 276 kidney transplant surgeries, ranking first in the province. The liver transplant department performed 79 liver transplants, ranking second in the province. The heart transplant department completed 30 heart transplants, including 2 artificial heart transplants.[4]
