Zhu Youhua
Summary: Zhu Youhua, male, born in June 1952. Former director of the PLA Organ Transplantation Research Institute of the Second Affiliated Hospital of the PLA Naval Medical University (formerly the Changzheng Hospital Affiliated to the Second Military Medical University), chief surgeon, professor. The Organ Transplantation Center of Shanghai Changzheng Hospital is the first organ transplantation research institution of the PLA and the highest-level medical, teaching and research center of the PLA in organ transplantation. It has great transplantation potential and is equipped with hardware facilities for thousands of organ transplants per year. It has a large number of organ transplants, a large number of emergency liver transplants, and a very short donor waiting time. As a distinguished professor of the Organ Transplantation Center of Changhai Hospital Affiliated to the Second Military Medical University, Zhu Youhua participated in the kidney transplantation work of Changhai Hospital. Telephone investigations show that Shanghai Changhai Hospital performs one to two kidney transplants per day, and that is way too many! According to the testimony of Bai Shuzhong, former Minister of Health of the General Logistics Department, the First Affiliated Hospital of the Naval Medical University of China (formerly the Changhai Hospital affiliated to the Second Military Medical University) and the Second Affiliated Hospital (formerly the Changzheng Hospital affiliated to the Second Military Medical University) are the major criminal units suspected of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners. Therefore, Zhu Youhua, as the former director of the Organ Transplantation Research Institute of the entire army and the main force in kidney transplantation, is seriously involved in the case.

Personal Profile: Chief Surgeon, professor, former director of the PLA’s organ transplantation research institute, Ph.D supervisor, director-level member of the PLA’s Organ Transplant Professional Committee, standing member of the Organ Transplantation Committee of the Chinese Medical Association, standing member of the China Dialysis and Transplantation Research Association, deputy editor of the Chinese Journal of Organ Transplantation, editorial board member of the Journal of the Second Military Medical University, and director of Shanghai Kidney Transplant Quality Control Center.
He graduated from the Department of Military Medicine of the Second Military Medical University in 1976. He has been conducting basic and clinical research of urologic surgery and kidney transplantation for more than 30 years. [1]

By Sept. 11, 2010, Zhu had performed 3,680 cases of kidney transplants[2]. He has a record of performing five kidney transplants a day. [3]
The Organ Transplant Center of Changzheng Hospital headed by Zhu Youhua is the first organ transplantation institute of PLA. It was established in early 2003 by combining a kidney transplantation group in the Department of Urology and a liver transplantation group in the Department of General Surgery of the Changzheng Hospital. It was approved on December 17, 2003, as the first PLA research institute of organ transplant, by the PLA Department of General Logistics.[4] It is now the highest level organ transplantation institution in the military, combining medical treatment, teaching and research. It can carry out many kinds of transplantations, such as kidney, liver, heart, simultaneous liver-kidney transplantations, and simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantations. The number of transplantation cases ranks among the top in China. The Organ Transplantation Research Institute advances quickly in adult liver transplantation, adult kidney transplantation, pediatric liver transplantation, pediatric kidney transplantation, living donor liver transplantation, living donor kidney transplantation, liver and kidney joint transplantation, pancreas and kidney joint transplantation.[5] The Organ Transplantation Center of the Second Military Medical University and Shanghai Kidney Transplantation Quality Control Center are both in the Changzheng Hospital. [6]
The hospital has great potential for organ transplants with the capacity to perform thousands of transplants every year
The Organ Transplant Center of Changzheng Hospital had 120 beds in 2014, as well as a liver transplantation, kidney transplantation, liver and gallbladder surgery clinic, hospitalization ward, and an organ transplantation rehabilitation ward. It has 6 labs including tissue matching, medicine concentration monitoring, organs storage, animal testing, transplantation immunology and transplantation pathology.[7] If calculated on the basis of a 100% bed turnover rate (the average bed occupancy rate in the national Grade-A Tertiary hospitals is as high as 103%[8]), and a 30-day hospitalization time for liver and kidney transplant, the hospital has the potential to perform more than 1,460 (120× 365×100%/30=1460) cases of liver and kidney transplants per year. (Calculation method: number of ward beds X number of days in a year X bed turnover rate/average hospitalization time for liver and kidney transplant = number of liver and kidney transplants performed per year)
This hospital has a large volume of organ transplants, including emergency liver transplants, and the waiting time for donors is extremely short. The shortest waiting time is 4 hours after admission for liver transplantation. During the three years from 2003 to 2006, Changzheng Hospital performed 120 cases of emergency liver transplantation. Warm ischemia time is zero or extremely short. In view of the background of the CCP’s state crime of forced organ harvesting, the affiliated hospitals to the military medical universities are major units suspected of involving in harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. On September 30, 2014, WOIPFG confirmed this fact through a telephone investigation of Major General Bai Shuzhong, the former head of the Health Department of the General Logistics Department of the CCP’s military[9].
The Second Military Medical University Changhai Hospital established a transplant center in March 2016,[10] and by the end of 2017, nearly 1,000 cases of liver and kidney transplantation had been reported. On May 18, 2016, Changhai Hospital held the establishment and unveiling ceremony of the Department of Organ Transplantation. The trial operation of the organ transplant department began on March 7[11] Zhu Youhua is a distinguished professor at the Organ Transplantation Center of Changhai Hospital affiliated to the Second Military Medical University. In the past 40 years, he has been mainly engaged in basic and clinical research in urology and kidney transplantation, especially in the areas of organ preservation’s base and preservation solution.
The telephone investigation shows that Shanghai Changhai Hospital does one or two kidney transplants every day, that’s way too many. Liver sources become available in 10 or half a month time.

Summary: Last year, more than a hundred cases of liver transplants, and five or six hundred cases of kidney transplants were done. Today we did two liver transplants and two kidney transplants; liver sources become available in 10-15 days; liver transplantation costs one million yuan, kidney transplantation half a million; they will get you a donor. Where could you get one done for 150,000 yuan? The liver and kidney donors will be available in ten days; we are doing it every day, and we do a lot. We are not doing as many as Renji Hospital does.
