Tian Ye

The Urology Department of Beijing Friendship Hospital, led by Tian Ye, claims to be the largest kidney transplant center in Asia[2], and claims to be the first to carry out dialysis therapy and kidney transplantation in China[3]. In 1997, it was designated as the Beijing Organ Transplant
Matching Center by the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau. The center was officially established on June 23, 1998. In 1998, the Sino-US Terasaki Matching Center was established. In June 2006, the hospital was approved by the Ministry of Health of the Communist Party of China as one of the first hospitals with kidney transplant qualifications [4]. It claims to have been the first to complete 1,000, 2,000, and 3,000 transplant operations in China[5]. According to the official website of Beijing Friendship Hospital, as early as October 2000, Beijing Friendship Hospital had completed 2,300 kidney transplants[6]. In November 2004, more than 3,000 cases were completed[7], and as of 2014, the center had completed more than 3,900 kidney transplants[8]. (Data analysts from WOIPFG believe that the data published on the CCP’s official website is far lower than the actual number of organ transplants. One of the reasons is that after the CCP’s organ harvesting scandal was exposed in 2006, Chinese hospitals and institutions involved in organ transplants deleted a large amount of information on their websites and tampered with the data in order to cover up their crimes.)
The Tongzhou branch of Beijing Friendship Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University opened for trial operation at 8 am on December 22, 2018. It was learned that the total number of beds in the Tongzhou branch was planned to be 1,050, and 800 beds in the first phase would become available for use gradually.[9] In December 2021, 702 beds became available for use, and the second phase of the project is scheduled to be put into use in 2023. After the second phase is put into use, the total number of beds will reach 1,050. Since the opening of the Tongzhou branch of Beijing Friendship Hospital, the liver transplant ward and kidney transplant ward of the hospital have been moved to the Tongzhou branch, and the transplant center of the Friendship Hospital has completed the overall relocation to the Tongzhou branch. International medical services have been added.[10] In June 2020, the kidney transplant center was relocated to the Tongzhou branch of the hospital as the only medical institution in the Jingdong area that can perform kidney transplants.
According to the hospital, Beijing Friendship Hospital had completed nearly 5,000 kidney transplant operations by December 2023. According to the deployment of the hospital's “three zones and one department,” the Kidney Transplant Center has completed kidney transplant operations for more than 500 uremia patients since it moved to the Tongzhou branch in 2020, and the total amount remains leading in Beijing.[11]
